The Top 10 Playgrounds in Melbourne

Melbourne Playgrounds was asked by a magazine editor to nominate a list of the top 10 playgrounds in the East/South regions of Melbourne and the top 10 playgrounds in the West/North regions. We got our gold mining pan from the shed, dipped it into the river bed of playgrounds, swirled it around to get rid of the dross and was left with ten sparkling nuggets.

Earlier in the year, a magazine editor asked us to compile a list of the top 10 playgrounds in the East/South regions of Melbourne and the top 10 playgrounds in the West/North region.

This was our list at the time:

East/South

Bayswater Park, Bayswater
Ray Bastin Reserve, Narre Warren
Ballam Park Reserve, Frankston (first playground in the park)
Ballam Park Reserve, Frankston (second playground in the park)
Wombat Bend Playspace, Templestowe Lower
Phoenix Park, Malvern East
Hays Paddock, Kew
Central Gardens, Hawthorn
Lilydale Lake Playground, Lilydale
Caulfield Park, Caulfield North (first playground in the park)
Caulfield Park, Caulfield North (second playground in the park)
Caulfield Park, Caulfield North (third playground in the park)
Packer Park, Carnegie

West / North

Presidents Park, Wyndham Vale
Galaxy Land, Sunbury
Malahang Reserve, Heidelberg West
Tenterfield Park, Burnside Heights
Victory Park, Ascot Vale
Navan Park, Melton
Hannah Watts Playground, Melton (first playground in this area)
Hannah Watts Playground, Melton (second playground in this area)
Braybrook Park, Braybrook
Maribyrnong Park, Moonee Ponds
Packard Park, Keilor Downs

It should be noted that the Sk Kilda Adventure Playground and Skinners Adventure Playground in South Melbourne were excluded from the list because these playgrounds have been setup for the local community and they discourage visitors from outside the local area.

Bollygum Park at Kinglake is also worth a mention

Marysville's new playground is amazing - flying fox, lots of equipment for all ages next to a great paddling creek. So too is the new Yarra Glen adventure playground - opening before Christmas and located in McKenzie Reserve - adjacent to the skate park. Healesville Railway Park is another excellent playground located next to the railway station which runs train trips, and the new community labyrinth.
