Review:

All the pools are indoors which is handy on those searingly hot days. The standout highlights are the slides which are great. The Space Bowl slide features a large bowl which swirls swimmers around before dropping them out of a hole into a little pool (think spin cycle in the washing machine) and a Raft Slide which is a twisting tube ride in total darkness (except for some illuminated arrow signs). Both rides are a bit scary but heaps of fun. For the Space Bowl you need to be more than 1.2m tall AND more than 10 years old and for the Raft Ride you need to be more than 1.2m tall although a child who is this height but less than 10 years old can go on a tandem raft with some-one older than 16. The use of the slides is included in the general admission price. The queues for the rides were reasonably long but the rides were well worth the wait.

The whole centre is quite new and the facilities are clean and in very good condition. There are plenty of family changing rooms and the staff were very friendly and helpful. As well as the 50m pool which was divided into two 25m pools (one 1.2m deep and the other 1.8m deep) by a movable boom, there was a warm water exercise pool (not really a kids area since there is no activity allowed other than a mild fluttering of the eye lids), a decent size leisure pool which has a huge bucket which fills up with water and then dumps its load on everyone waiting expectantly below and a toddlers pool with splash park.

We found the pebbly type floor surface rather slippery and care needs to be taken when walking around the leisure and toddler pools. It is amazing to think that designers haven't been able to develop a suitable non-slip floor surface. The cafe area was rather small. There is a huge sculpture of an English Roach from the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
