Hardrock (Nunawading)
Indoor Rock Climbing is a fantastic activity that almost everyone can enjoy!
It doesn't matter if you have never been before, and you do not have to be spiderman to try it! Come Climbing at Hardrock and we can promise that you will have both a safe and enjoyable experience....
Rock climbing indoors on walls that feel and look like real rock, from 6m to 16m.
Kids at Hardrock
The recommended youngest age is 5 years and up. Children under 11 may climb, but cannot undertake the safety work (belaying) at the base of the climb, and must be accompanied by an adult to help them. One adult may help up to two or three children comfortably, thus allowing the children a break in between climbs.
Over 11's - Kids 11 years and older are able to belay for each other, and so will be taken through an safety induction when they enter Hardrock.
Facilities
Top Rope - 100+ routes, with grades 6 - 30 for top rope climbing.
Top Rope - - 21 lead walls up to 14 metres high, 9 of which are 'lead only'; including our massive roof (18m long climb), and the amazing articulating wall (which is a hydraulically adjustable overhang!). Note: To lead climb at Hardrock we require all climbers and belayers to complete a Lead Climbing Assessment.
Auto Belay - There are no auto belay facilities.
Bouldering - A bouldering area as well as campus board, hang boards and bar. Typically there are around 40 problems to try, plus a couple of long routes to warm up and train endurance.
Courses & Instruction
Whether you've never rock climbed before, are relatively new to the sport, or want to take things to the next level, then sign-up for one of our ground breaking courses!
Throughout each course our trained Instructors will attend to your individual needs and requirements which will be the key to your success.
Each course is designed to be a fun, interactive session tailored for the beginner climber right through to an advanced level.
Courses include Beginners Course, Private Tuition, Open Climb Club, Lead Course and Lead Assessment.
Youth Programs
Climbing Club
Develop and Improve on indoor rock climbing skills by joining the Hardrock youth Climbing Club. Our programs have been developed and fine tuned with over 20 years of experience to deliver a progressive coaching experience that focuses on key elements of long term athlete development. We welcome all youth climbers from beginners to elite. There is Under 11s Climbing Club and Over 11s Climbing Club.
School Holiday Programs
Join us for our fun and actioned-packed indoor rock climbing holiday programs. Our three-day climbing program is the perfect way for kids to get some adventure in their school holidays. Run by our experienced coaches, our Holiday Program is designed for children of all experience levels to learn key climbing skills, meet new friends and stay active during the holidays.
Climbing Birthday Parties for Kids
Under 11 Birthday Parties - Hardrock is pleased to offer you the opportunity of hosting your child's Birthday at our Nunawading venue.
Your children will be under the guidance of our instructors for the duration of their visit. Hardrock instructors handle the ropes (belaying) for your children along with encouraging the children to ensure they have a great time.
Opening Hours:
Weekdays: 12pm to 10pm.
Weekends: 11am to 7pm (6pm during winter).
Cost:
General entry - Prices into the gym include entry and unlimited climbing. Climbing gear is required to climb within the centre and must be hired if you do not have your own equipment.
