Review:

Even though the night tour was a touch expensive, it was a wonderful experience for the whole family. This is also an ideal activity if you have a visitor from overseas and they want to get up close and personal to Australian wildlife.

Before the tour you can wander around the main building which has glass fronted cabinets with snakes, lizards, hopping mice, stick insects, frogs, yabbies and silver perch. The large windows look out onto a paddock with wallabies and kangaroos. There are also plenty of cute and cuddly souvenirs and some food and drinks are sold at reasonable prices.

The tour starts with the opportunity to wrap Monty the python around your neck - a photo opportunity not to be missed. Then you get an informative, laid-back guided tour through a range of enclosures and cages where the animals will come to you for food. Except for the animals which could bite or inflict other forms of pain, the animals can be fed and touched. Flash photography is also possible.

There is a wide range of animals including a Tasmanian Devil (which was fed a mouse by the ranger), bettongs (they come and feed out of your hands), gliders (will also come and feed from your hands and climb on you), quolls (in a secure cage), koalas, dingos, owls and lots of kangaroos and wallabies which also will feed from your hands. There are well defined paths between the areas and since there is no "bush bashing" it is possible to wear shorts during hot weather.
