Bayswater Park, Mountain Highway, Bayswater

This playground has more punch than a left hand thrown by Barry Hall. Full size red steam engine (James from Sodor), railway platform with benches under cover complete with wooden fat controller (that is what he is made out of and not a reflection of his acting ability in the TV series), ticket window and a smaller wooden train with two carriages. This is all sheltered under trees.

This is next to a large high wooden structure based on curved ramps which includes wave slide, rigid balance beam, fireman's pole, musical pipes, high rope bridge, musical bridge, rope and wooden climbing walls, ladders, twin large metal slides, shop window, cubby houses, monkey bars, flying foxes, horizontal bars, roman rings, two swings without safety chain which can be swung around in a circle by a muscular member of the family, large climbing frame in an elephant shape with a slide as a trunk, two hippos lolling about in a rubber lake (Henrietta and Horatio), tiles and artwork on a brick wall and decorated with animals and either gremlins or lemurs gone ferrel.

Another area with large sandpit and mechanical scoop. Huge climbing frame with a large slide to get down (requires good climbing skill), hopscotch area, large goanna on a stump and five swings without safety chain arranged in a pentagon shape and everyone swings towards the centre.

Seats with shade. This is a playground with lots of unique features. If you have become a bit jaded with playgrounds then this is like throwing a bucket of cold water over your face.

Is this playground still open? And how does it fare for a two year old active kid whose dad is in a wheelchair? Admin - It is still open but has a large fenced area which might make it bit difficult to keep track of your kid. It's a wonderful playground.

We visited with our young children, train was impressive, great playground. Unfortunately there was a couple smoking weed inside the train! Revolting and really dissapointing, for adults to smoke drugs around young children in their area of play, what a pair of scums.

Can someone tell how do I find this park what is it close to? Thanks Edward Admin - If you find King St, Bayswater then the location of the playground will be obvious.

Just been to this park with my 6 y.o daughter. Wow! A park that can keep her interested for 2 hrs. So much to do and real variety. Why can't other parks be this good! Also great facilities for BBQ and parking.

People make me sick!! Not hard for one to use their brains and not smoke in a children's playground. I mean how desperate do you have to be!! Can't wait for it to be illegal!

It is still legal to smoke in playgrounds althrough the state government is planning to introduce laws banning smoking in play grounds. I suppose until these laws are introduce you cannot whinge as smoking when 18 or older even in a playground in not illegal. Althrough I agree the smokers should move away from children when smoking.

Great park for the kids especially fans of Thomas the Tank etc. My Son loves coming here. The only issue I encountered was some parents lack of respect when it came to smoking in the playground! Not sure if its law but would be surprised to find out it is not. I Have requested council put no smoking signs up in the park. Common sense just doesn't seem to apply with certain people.

We Love this park! I got stuck in the big train one day! Finally somebody convinced me to come down! It is one of the best parks out. I love the settings and the massive swing. - Kaylee and Grace

Brilliant park, my little boy loved the train and was even more excited because being so close to the train line you can see the trains go past, and hear the gates - made it more fun. May be worth taking wellies (gum boots!) there is a big water tank with a tap near the sandpit and its amazing how quickly a 2 year old figures out how it works.

Very good park, equipment in good condition and good spread of activities. Be ware of the gates on the perimeter as they are either non existent or the locks are broken. So if you have really small ones prone to wandering around - we have a very fast on his legs 3 year old - just be aware there are some gaps in the boundary which they could easily get through.

Took my kids here late this arvo and they had a ball. They barely stopped to draw breath and 2 hours later they were worn out but still didn't want to leave!
