Bicentennial Park Playground, Scotch Parade, Chelsea

An absolutely delightful play space with lots of whimsical and fun elements for all ages. There are two big mound slides which are the centre piece of the play space. Pick your slide depending on how much excitement you want. Next to the slides is a Smurf village with a music hut, story hut and play hut complete with a mooing cow in the middle of the village.

Other elements include sculptural gardens, a shaded sand pit, Tinkerbelle sand pit, a giant basket swing, hammock, Mount Chelsea Express train, huge green grasshopper and bee springers, stand-on spinners, spiral slide, clock panel, rope climbing frame, stepping stones, rowing boat on rocker, chain traverse, tic-tac-toe, monkey bars, flying fox, wooden structure with various ladders and dual wave slides, circle set at an angle which revolves around and revolving lotus leaf with hand wheel.

There is a Liberty swing. Shelters with BBQs and tables, toilets, seats (including some wonderful curved seats) and water taps are spread around. The area is surrounded by fences with child proof gates.

Hi can you please let me know if you can book the tables and BBQ's or not. Thanks Admin - you cannot book the tables or BBQs.

Love the park, but we should ban the bike riding inside the playground. It is very dangerous for young kids.

Great park. I have a 4 year old and 16 month old and it was great for both of them. Well maintained, and clean. Exciting play equipment - my boys loved the smurf village and the boat. Well worth the special trip we made to visit it- I'm sure we will be back.

Although the facilities are first come, they are everyones to share and enjoy in turn- perhaps Kingston should put a sign for those forgetful big people. Awesome park Kingston!

I was googling for somewhere for my daughter to take her children that wasnt going to cost an arm and a leg like most places. All it cost was fuel from Langwarrin. What a magical park the kids had so much fun. They want to go again next weekend. Thankyou city of Kingston for investing in this great park and keeping it so maintained. Chrissy

The new look playground is great, my only gripe would be the exercise equipment needs to be maintained as I noticed some of the machines were broken lucky my daughter and her friend steered clear and I re directed others away. I would love to use this equipment for my daughter, family and friends to get fit. The rest of the park is fantastic.

Sat on the swings courting my wife, now with all this new play equipment, grandchildren can enjoy it too, Loved the park for 30 Years

Get a life rock... My 2 1/2 year old loves this place. Well done city of Kingston. great facilities!!

Having just returned from Canada, one realizes how much lower the standards are here. Everyone here thinks this park is nice but by North American standards it would be considered a dump. It's poorly maintained, garbage bins overflowing, there's little or no shade, the grassed areas are not grass at all but just dirt. There's no flowers. The play structures are ok but otherwise it really is an ugly park.

I love this park too! I would like to have my daughters 4th birthday there soonish... was wondering if the first-come first-served rule is still in place? Does anyone have any tips to be first or alternative to that particular shelter? Thanks, Adrienne

Awesome playground.. We have been there a few times and my son loves only gripe is that bikes should not be allowed in the actual play area.. A boy on his bike came from around a corner and ran into my 3 yr old..was not happy about that at all!

One of our best playgrounds in sth east melbourne. My 3.5 yr old son loves this park and we drive about 20 mins from home to get there. Excellent new clean & safe playing areas to challenge and stimulate toddlers to older kids. My son's imaginative play runs wild here. Its always busy and popular here for all the families. great atmosphere that blends in with the surrounding parklands. A brilliant venue for a b'day or gathering with the kids. They wont want to leave! Highly recommended to visit.

Presently the Kingston council has a first-come-first-serve policy with regard to public open space facilities such as barbecues, shelters and tables.

Does anyone know if you have to book a BBQ area if you want to use it for a birthday or is it first come first served?
uyen      Posted:    2:27 PM February 27, 2011

Best playground ever.

I really love it, I could go there everyday with my family!

Wow - this place has changed in 5 years. Last time we were here it was raining and our daughter was still in nappies. There was only one steel slide and not much else. What a blast today was - we are all looking forward to going again soon.

This playground is the best I've ever seen! Great facilities BBQs, toilets and a wide variety of equipment to keep the kids occupied for hours. The Smurf village has some interactive elements which is great. Surrounding gardens are very nice.
