Warrawee Park, DW Nichol Reserve, Drummond Street, Oakleigh

Next to the dead-centre of town - the cemetery that is. It's tempting to say this was a playground downgrade since I quite liked the old playground. In parts the playground has the feel of something Dad cobbled together in the garage and finished off with some leftover paint.

You can follow coloured lines along the paths to equipment which includes steps which lead to a very high steep metal slide, inclined walkway with climbing holds which lead to wide metal slide, birds nest swing, standard swings, large stand-on carousel and a mini panel with various educational and musical panels.

Shelter with seats, unshaded tables, BBQs, water tap, unshaded seats and limited grassy area. Close to road and cemetery - be afraid of which ever of these frightens you the most.

I agree with Paul. We just don't bother going there anymore. So sad, because we definitely have a shortage of good parks in this part of the City of Monash; this one, while no Packer Park, was one of the best around and now it's just awful. Someone really dropped the ball here.

The council have ruined the park for little children - no more see-saw, no more corkscrew or smaller slides for little kids, metal steep slides that are too fast and heat up in the sun, no maze, no little springer rides, no more ramp on the main climbing structure that little kids could walk up. And they allege it is 'fully accessible'. What a joke.

Monash council have bulldozed the entire thing, they're replacing it all but it looks like none of it will be finished until sometime after Christmas. Hopefully they'll put in some shade since they cut down one of the few mature trees that shaded it a couple of years ago. No more maze, there will be a very simple piece of walls that are "inspired by the old maze" according to the architect's posters.
