George Pentland Botanic Gardens Playground, Williams Street, Frankston

The playground is set in a lovely Botanic Gardens setting. The playground has been upgraded into a very nice play space. The structure which attracts they most attention by the kids has both a green twisting tunnel slide and a straight metal slide with big leaves where ladybirds have settled. To get to the slides you can take the direct steps or take some steps in combination with net bridges or maybe climb up a pole with disks for footholds.

There are more things for energetic kids including a swing which uses a massive length of rope as a seat, massive multi-person see-saw, spinning carousel, small birds nest swing, two standard swings, bee springer, bug springer and huge sandpit.

Look out for the goanna sculpture and under the shady tree is a very scary looking black spider (the type which causes nightmares - for me anyway), indigenous story area and log balance areas.

There is a huge shelter with tables, plenty of other shaded tables and seats under the trees, unshaded tables and seats, water tap, toilet, BBQs and big grassy areas. Go for a walk in the Botanic Gardens. There is a deep pond fairly close by.

The gates which have beautiful sculptures on them are locked after hours. Opening hours are 1 November - 31 March: 7am - 9pm, 1 April - 30 October: 7am - 6pm

Note: The playground was a joint winner of the 2019 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects award for Best Playspace in Victoria.
