Ferndale Park Playground, Glen Iris Road, Glen Iris

The plaque says this park was the centre of Melbourne in 2001. So if you want to be in the middle of the Melbourne play park scene then this is a must visit park.

The playground is perched on the side of a hill and has shade protection from two shade sails and some trees which covers part of the playground.

Up on top of the hill is a structure with two wave slides, scrambling wall, flying fox, clock panels, monkey bars, shop front, tic-tac-toe and cubby. A rope bridge leads to a medium sized rope climbing pyramid. There is also a birds nest swing, three standard swings and an expression swing where the child and carer sit opposite each other and a big ugly green troll, which makes internet trolls seem tame in comparison, guards this level.

Dual slides lead down to the bottom with steps, a rope line or bumps in the surface aids to get back to the top level. At the bottom is a sand pit with sand play table with a roof, wire frame igloo cubby and colourful red flower speak and listen system.

A shaded table and some seats are spread around the playground area and at the top is a shelter with two tables, shaded table, water tap, BBQs and toilets. Next to an oval.
