Burnley Park Playground, Bellevue Street, Richmond

Burnley Park Playground, Bellevue Street, Richmond

Main structure is wooden and has lot of different levels with chain climbing wall, horizontal bars, monkey bars and wave slide. Four swings. Now to the more eccentric features. A long flexible pipe which is a type of see-saw. I guess this is the kids version of a Texan mechanical bull. A tree stump for scrambling on, a strange mirror which shows you as having no head but four legs and feet and a hammock. The hammock has hard balls which dig into you, so to be completely comfortable bring along a blanket and pillow. Make sure you don't fall asleep or the kids could end up in the river.

Huge sandpits covered by slanting roofs which have alternating wooden slats and space. If you don't move enough on a sunny day you could end up looking like a red and white zebra! Even the water tap is very unusual but unfortunately doesn't work - once again funky design and function collide. BBQ and tables under the semi-shade shelters. Most other seats without shade. Plenty of low rock and log walls to traverse.

Update: The main part of the playground now has shade sails.
