Sir William Angliss Reserve Playground, Rathmines Road, Hawthorn East

A sleek futuristic type playground with dashes of shiny metal and bright colourful play equipment. The main structure is for the climbers in the family although mountain goats will be equally at home. It has an array of interesting and unusual ladders, climbing walls, bridges and tunnels plus a little table area, a single person see-saw (a similarly weighted friend is no longer needed for a see-saw ride) and a flying fox on a curved pipe.

If this area is too high for the kids there is a low play structure with two metal slides, rope climbing wall, climbing wall with handholds and a little scrambling wall. Also a purple apple shape with hand wheel to spin around until everyone inside is deliriously dizzy, two cute little colourful cubbies, a car (not on springs), balance area, see-saw, spin the disk panel, cylinder which can be spun around to make (very) interesting noises, little car springer and four swings.

There is a large fenced sandpit with digger and sand play table. Also standalone monkey bars and horizontal bars. The area has an unshaded table, water tap, big grassy area and finally some period style" seats suited to a genteel place like Hawthorn East.

The playground was upgraded in 2015.
