Edwardes Lake Park Play Space, Griffiths Street, Reservoir
Has a full size A2 class locomotive on display. The train is fenced off but it is possible to enter the driver's compartment and pretend that you are driving Douglas (or at least have a good healthy discussion as to which train it is from Sodor). The train is about 100m away from the fully fenced playground which has a range of visual and play elements including a big spinning cone with floor which kids can stand inside and get spun around, a modern climbing frame at one end, multi-level sandpits, family sized see-saw, birds nest swing, a range of unusual musical instruments, lovely big wooden turtle seat and wooden logs to scurry along.
There are unshaded seats inside the seated area and the surface is mainly soft material surrounded by some concrete paths which provide good accessibility to the equipment. Outside the fenced area is a big shelter with tables, toilets, BBQs, shaded seats, unshaded tables and big grassy areas. Near a creek with water birds and a lake. There are four outdoor gym sites at Edwards Lake Reserve.
The playground was extended to include additional equipment outside the fenced area. There is now a huge metal slide from the top of the hill, birds nest swing, flying fox, more swings and a medium sized rope climbing frame.
