Sinnott Street Playground, Burwood

Sinnott Street Playground, Burwood

This playground has had a major upgrade. Previously it was best suited to those adventurous types who would rather picnic in an Iraqi war zone than next to the Danube River. Now it honours the Burwood Skyline Drive-in which existed on this site until it closed in 1983.

The playground has a Drive-in theme with a screen which has two climbing walls, a high horizontal rope net, curved rope ladder and wave slide. Sitting out front is a huge car with steering wheel and seats where you can pretend you're watching the latest blockbuster on the screen. The spinning projector wheel is a nice touch to the past. There are also swings and springer. If only they served popcorn and coke here.

There is a large shelter with tables and BBQs which was the original brick ticket office. Some grassy area, water tap and unshaded rocks for seats.
