Lake Eildon National Park Estate Spur Walk

Although there are numerous walk options taking in Estate Spur, our recommended walk is a 6 km circuit walk starting at Lakeside Camping Area in Coller Bay (Fraser Block) Lake Eildon National Park. The walk offers superb views, numerous photographic opportunities and lovely Australian bushland abundant in flora and fauna.

From Lakeside follow the vehicle track (management vehicles and walkers only) to the south which climbs steeply up to Estate Spur. Then follow the track west along the spur before descending to the Parks Victoria office (via the track down to the north). Once at the main road, return to Lakeside Camping Area via the shared walk/bike path.

The walk takes around two hours at a casual pace and is of hard grade due to the steepness of the climb and decent track sections.

Two undercover Day Visitor Areas with BBQ facilities are located near Lakeside Camping Area (Forsyth and Herb Fitzroy) and camping is available at Lakeside Camp Ground (bookings essential).

In 1956, the Big Eildon Dam project, was finished, expanding the water holding capacity of the new Lake Eildon over seven times when compared to the earlier Sugarloaf Weir. Fraser Block was established at Coller Bay on the lake's western bank, 25 minutes from Alexandra and Eildon. Fraser Block affords locals and visitors easy access to camping areas, nature walks, water access and all year fishing.
