Lake Boga Silo Art

Lake Boga Silo Art

The mural, painted by Tim Bowtell, showcases the historic Catalina aircraft and renowned aviator George Urquhart "Scotty" Allan.

Lake Boga was chosen to become an important air base for Australia's fleet of Catalina during World War Two. The small town was chosen because of its isolation and its position hundreds of kilometres from potential sea-launched bombing raids.

The artwork is set against a picturesque Lake Boga sunset and portrays the region's history and environment, while also highlighting the various recreational activities like water skiing and sailing, along with a prominent pelican.

The mural helps to promote the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum.
