Kitty Miller Bay Beach (Phillip Island)

Kitty Miller Bay is a 0.5km long picturesque, circular bay inside the bordering Watts Point and Kennon Head with a large rock platform that becomes exposed at low tide, making this spot ideal for snorkelling. Kitty Miller Bay Beach is a popular beach for swimming, snorkelling, surfing, beach walks and fishing.

The south facing beach is reasonably sheltered and waves average only 0.7 m at the beach, and even lower at low tide. It has fantastic rockpools at low tide. Waves break towards the drop-off of the platform, forming nice waves for surfers on the higher tide. The beach is narrow at high tide, while at low tide it expands to more than 50 m wide, with deeper water off the centre and extensive intertidal rock flats to either side. Rips are only present during higher waves.

There is a gravel carpark. The closest cafes and shops are located in Cowes, a 10 minute drive away.

Swimming
One of the safer south coast beaches, owing to the generally low waves and gently sloping central beach section.

Surfing
There are a number of breaks over the reefs which work best at high tide.

Fishing
The Bay offers some more protected rock platforms to fish the Bay and the reefs.

General Hazard Rating: 4/10 (Moderately hazardous)
