Programs
The club runs the following programs:

Learn to Paddle program - is for adults or families who are new to paddling or have not paddled flatwater kayaks before. People who have only paddled sea kayaks or plastic sit-on-tops should consider doing the course as flatwater kayaking needs extra skills and balance. The aim is for participants to develop basic skills and confidence in touring kayaks (usually a TK1) to ensure safe, independent paddling.

Junior Program - We are offering separate programs for primary and secondary school-age children. Both programs will run on Saturday afternoons during school terms from our clubhouse in Fairfield Park. Participants will develop flatwater paddling skills and have the opportunity to try sprint and marathon disciplines.

Our program for primary school-aged children, the Paddleroos, will start at noon and finish at 2 pm. The emphasis is on having fun while learning how to paddle, develop strength and fitness, and confidence on the water.

The Junior Squad for young people at secondary school will run between 2 and 4 pm. The program aims to support the development of young paddlers, including those who want to compete.

Our junior programs are led by qualified and experienced kayaking coaches with first-aid and CPR certificates, all of whom have current Working with Children checks.

Coaching - Ivanhoe & Northcote Canoe Club has a number of qualified flatwater coaches within its membership. Club coaches are involved in our Beginner and Junior Programs, along with several of the training groups. All are accredited with Canoeing Australia, which means they must coach regularly and have up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification.

Private coaching - Some of the club coaches are also available for private coaching. Our level 2 coach can assist intermediate to experienced or advanced paddlers with technique, racing and conditioning. Level 1 coaches are available to assist beginners through to intermediate level paddlers in private lessons or shared groups sessions.

Racing
There are plenty of opportunities for competition in all disciplines through the year around Melbourne and further across Victoria including Marathon, Sprint, Adventure / multisport, Ocean racing, Slalom, Canoe polo, Down River / Wild Water and Freestyle.

Training Groups
Ivanhoe & Northcote Canoe Club has a variety of training groups catering for all members from beginners through to advanced paddlers including Social, Intermediate, Interval training, Distance and Multisport.
