CODE - Centre of Dance and Exercise is the first stop for premier dance training, performance and education.

CODE is committed to the personal development of their dancers. CODE believes in celebrating the unique attributes of each dancer by working with each student and building their individual strengths. CODE's passionate and experienced teachers support students to achieve their personal best, whilst encouraging a love for the art of dance.

CODE aims to provide a positive, supportive and nurturing environment that will inspire students and enable them to pursue dance at a pace that suits their needs. Their staff, dancers and parents are all a part of the CODE family and contribute to the encouraging school environment. Whether interested in dance for recreational or vocational purposes, the CODE team continually strives to ensure that students receive a first-class dance experience.

Classes


We offer a wide range of classes across all age groups to suit your needs.

Jazz
An energetic dance style with a focus on isolations, contractions, flexibility, turns and leaps. Students will learn to connect these movements through combinations.

Classical Ballet
Ballet focuses on the terminology and technique that is the foundation of all other styles of dance. Dancers will learn posture, alignment and fluidity.

Lyrical
Lyrical allows dancers to express themselves by using their music and movement to tell a story. It is a combination of the slow fluidity of ballet and the turns and leaps of jazz.

Tap
Tap teaches dancers musicality and rhythmic patterns. This style involves tapping to different musical patterns and connecting various steps.

Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a modern style of dance involving intricate and sharp movements. Dancers have fun with this upbeat style as they learn combinations to popular and high-energy music.

Contemporary
Contemporary dance uses the technical aspects of ballet along with the contract-release, floor work, recovery and fall of modern dance.

CODE Cheer
Acrobatics allows dancers to take gymnastics to the dance floor. Dancers will learn tumbling tricks that they will be able to use in their dance routines such as cartwheels, walkovers & aerials.

TKJ (Turns, Kicks, Jumps)
This class concentrates on improving technique needed for all turns, kicks and jumps. This class also teaches strength and flexibility that can be applied in all genres of dance.

Kinder Dance
Introduces our youngest students to all forms of dance. Specifically designed for young boys and girls who like to move, our high-energy class is sure to leave students with an enduring passion for dance.

Combo Class
This choreography-focused class enables students to 'dance it out' by learning combinations in a range of dance styles.

Teacher Training
Teacher Training teaches students the skills required to become a dance teacher. In this class students will learn the essential tools for teaching and engaging students, developing lesson plans as well as the choreographic elements of various dance genres.

Recreational Classes
Recreational classes are for students who wish to dance purely for fun and fitness. Students in recreational classes can participate in as many classes as they would like. Students in recreational classes do not have to participate in any competitions or examinations. Recreational dance students will have the opportunity to showcase the skills and choreography that they have worked on during the year by performing a routine in the annual end of year concert.

CODE Competition Crew Classes
CODE Competition Crews are available to committed students who wish to train more intensely and participate in troupe competitions and performances throughout the year. CODE offers Competition Crews for all ages and levels across a variety of genres. CODE Crews have a minimum commitment of contact hours per week.

Mini Codettes
The Mini Codettes is a program specifically tailored for dedicated and passionate younger students who wish to perform in Competition Crews as well as solos, duos and/or trios in competitions and performances throughout the year. With a strong individual focus on the student's technique and development, the Mini Codettes program provides students in Grade 6 and below the opportunity to be exposed to various dance genres and develop strong underlying technique needed to succeed as established dancers.

Mini Codettes (Grade 6 & Below)
The Codettes program is specifically tailored toward dedicated students who wish to perform in solo competitions and enhance their skills through private lessons. The Codettes are an elite group of dancers selected to represent CODE in Competition Crews as well as in solo/duo/trio performances and competitions throughout the year.

Codettes (Year 7 & Above)
The Codettes program allows students to participate in unlimited classes (minimum of 6 classes and a 30 minute private lesson) per week. The program offers students the opportunity to learn a variety of dance genres, receive weekly teacher training (available for students in Year 9 and above) as well as extra performance opportunities. Through this program, students learn to be well-rounded performers and as well as being equipped with the essential life skills such as self-motivation, organisation, focus and goal setting.

VET Solo Dances
VCE VET Dance is an excellent way to integrate dancing into VCE and provides a unique opportunity to showcase your dance ability and progress your learning. The VCE VET Dance program is drawn from a national training package and offers portable qualifications which are recognised throughout Australia. These qualifications provide students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training in related industries live performance industry. But most of all, VET Dance can give VCE students an energetic outlet while still counting as a VCE subject.
