City Dance Centre
City Dance Centre is Melbourne's premier dance centre for professional and adult classical ballet and jazz classes.
City Dance Centre offers classes for all levels of dancer, which are conducted by professional teachers with extensive experience teaching and performing.
Morning classes are geared to the professional dancer or advanced student. We understand how hard it is to maintain a classical standard if you are not attending a school or dancing in a company full time. With that in mind we try to accommodate the dancer with classes that develop technique and technical standard while at the same time enhancing their artistic development and stamina.
For adults we have classes through the week in the evenings, at various different levels, including our beginner beginners class. You may have danced as a child or never danced before but it's never too late to start! And no bookings are necessary for any of our classes.
We also offer private classes if you wish to work on technique and private coaching, for students who have exam solos or professionals brushing up on their repertoire. These are available on request.
Styles
Classical Ballet
Come and experience what you've always dreamed of or pick up where you left off as a child with ballet. Recognised as the basis for all other forms of dance, ballet uses beautiful, graceful movements to inspiring music while giving you the benefit of improving co-ordination, flexibility, strength and overall fitness.
Our 'beginner beginners' classes are the perfect introduction to the wonderful world of ballet and are structured so that within a relatively short period of time you will find yourself dancing!
Jazz
Jazz is a great way to further improve co-ordination, flexibility and strength. It is a fun and stimulating form of dance exercise. Quick and easy to learn this dance style will increase your heart rate and put a spring back in your step!
Once the basic steps are learnt, simple routines are achievable giving you extra skill and confidence out on the dance floor next time you are out partying!
