Chelsea and Peninsula Cycling Club (Edithvale)

Chelsea and Peninsula Cycling club has been in existence for over 50 years. We are not a large club, but we cater for the entire Mornington Peninsula.

The club has clubrooms situated at the Edithvale Velodrome, which we call home, especially over the summer months during track season. In winter we hold our races at Casey Fields, Crib Point, Dromana and Frankston Gardens (Carrum Downs).

All year round the club is involved in a regional combine racing system. Almost every week or weekend of the year there is a club race combine held by one of the clubs involved. They can be track, criterium, road or time trial races. There are also races run during the week, mostly held by Carnegie Caulfield Club. The clubs we race with are St Kilda, Carnegie Caulfield and Blackburn.

Racing with other clubs gives new and younger riders more exposure to riding in large bunches, and greater levels of competition. It also provides variety and different areas in which to race.

Cycling is very much a social sport, and it is a good way to make friends, in other clubs, from other states, even other countries.

In open competition riders can race against people from all over the country, and often other countries. Cycling can take a rider around the world if he or she has the potential and develops their skills.

Cycling can also be a fun way to spend time with your family and friends, a good way to keep fit and a healthy mode of travel for young and old.
