Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club (Albert Park)

The Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club, which is nestled at the western end of the beautiful St Vincent Gardens, is one of the oldest clubs in Victoria.

Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club has two classic clay tennis courts with lights and offers coaching, competitions, regular social play, club events and activities. The clubhouse has a kitchen, shower, two toilets and storeroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and a good range of utensils, cutlery and crockery for members' use. The outside barbecue is easy to operate and can be fired up for lunch or dinner.

Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club offers great value for money by providing a range of tennis and social activities for members.

Competition
The Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club holds a number of annual competitions and events for both senior and junior players. The seniors' club championship is held in May and there is a mixed doubles' round robin competition that produces some good tennis and fun in March.

Christmas is busy at the APLTC with a children's competition held on one of the Saturdays in December. The competition, which consists mainly of the children who have been involved in the Saturday coaching sessions, is divided into juniors and more experienced players. Food, drinks and a few treats are provided by the club for both competitors and the spectators.

The junior club championships are held in Term 4, usually over the Melbourne Cup Day weekend.

We also offer the opportunity to play regular team competition. We are very proud of our mid-week ladies' team who has won multiple premierships in the hotly contested Bayside Pennant competition. There is also the Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club men's pennant team, which competes in the high standard Tennis Victoria Pennant Competition. All playing standards are welcome.

Coaching
Coaching at Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club is conducted by Nicole Bruce-Smith who has been there for more than 25 years. Junior coaching is offered on multiple nights of the week and there is week-long holiday programs, group coaching and and private coaching.

Social Tennis
Keen to play without committing to a team? Social tennis is run on Sunday morning (anytime from 8.30 am you'll find a group of members keen for a hit), Tuesday night (doubles play) and Wednesday night (starts around 5.30 pm with a BBQ).

Court Hire
Tokens to operate the lights can only be purchased at Bisbas Hardware, 196 Bridport Street. The cost is $10 for 30 minutes.
Visitors are welcome at the Albert Park Lawn Tennis Club but must be signed in by a club member, either senior or junior. According to club by-laws visitors are only permitted to play twice per month and the cost is $10.
With only two courts and busy coaching, competition and group social schedule, court access is limited.
